Seriously though, CDs have turned out to be decently hard to make unplayable and yours of 1987 is nearly 40 years old....not bad for something that flimsy looking. Still got a long way to go to beat the age of 78rpm records though. They started heavy manufacturing of them in about 1890 and I have a couple in my collection nearly that old 130 years! Mind you, strength is not their strong point......driving over a shellac record would have exactly the effect you expect!!
Sure enough, Chris. Ive gotta be honest CD has turned out to be a great format, but its never reached the live I had for records. Lp covers could look great, but CD covers are a fraction of the size. Liner notes were more readable on LPs but the most important for me is that records just sounded warmer.
A Motown it on record, never sounded as good as when played on my Dansette. The CD just sound different.
78s... well I just had to look at them and they'd break!
And did you run each one over subsequently??
